// Why/How/When To Pray//

Why should I pray?

Now I am sure you have wondered “why on earth should I pray? It seems boring…what’s it going to do? Is it worth my time?What if it’s too difficult.”

well fear not! I have some answers for you :)

Prayer is important because God commands us to throughout the bible an example is in Ephesians 6:18 (so brake out that bible and look it up ;D , it is important to always try to read for yourself what God’s word says you don’t want to fall for any tricks or lies) Prayer is also a key element to a Christian life because it forms foundational elements of in our life. Without prayer we often resort to anger, confusion, deception, and gain a lack of peace. Jesus displayed a perfect example of it’s importance often throughout the new testament (we are supposed to live like Jesus right?)

Another good point is that we are supposed to develop a strong relationship with God, how else are we going to talk to him right now? Through prayer that’s how. When you talk to God you go to him like a child would a parent, casually and openly, and respectfully. You don’t have to put on a big show, just open your heart and poor it out to him. The more you pray to him the more you will have your eyes opened to his mercy and wonder.

Lastly, we now have the holy spirit in us right? Well in order to strengthen it or feed it in a sense we must pray, it is like water or food to our holy spirit. The more we do it the stronger it becomes the stronger we become and the better decisions we will make.

(if you aren’t sure you know much about the holy spirit I will cover it in a post to come)

How To Pray

I am going to start off by asking you to either break out the bible, or your bible app (totally awesome btw) and turn read Luke 11:1-13.

Praying to God doesn’t require putting on a show, kneeling or bowing, or any other notion. All it requires is talking and asking God like he’s your Dad because he is. You want to pray about things and ask for things that are in accordance with his will. He won’t answer them if you aren’t sincere and praying for the wrong things (for example praying for a ipad II because your friend has one), you want to pray out of love.

I waited patiently for the Lord;

he turned to me and heard my cry...” -Psalm 40:1

You also have to patient when you pray to God, he may not answer you when or how you think he ought too, often because he knows things we dont and has a plan. Often when we endure a difficult time or feel God hasn’t answered in the way we want later down the road we are often able to look back at the storm we endured and it makes sense what God was doing. When you pray trust and BELIEVE and expect that God is listening and he hears you he will answer. There is nothing that you will endure that God won’t provide an answer to. Just pray and study his word.

When to Pray

You can pray anytime, anywhere, or about anything…..You can pray in bed, in the shower, while eating, with a friend, alone, in the dark or in the light, loud or quiet. It does not matter when or where God is ALWAYS there for you and listening. Here are some verses covering prayer:

The Lord is near to all who call on him,

to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of

those who fear him;

he hears their cry and saves them.” -Psalm 145:18-19 (NIV)

I will pray to him and he will hear me,

and I will fulfill my vows.”- Job 22:27

Rejoice always, pray continually,

Be unceasing in prayer; Thank God

in everything for this is the will of God….”-1 Thessalonians 5:17,18

It only takes a few minutes to do or a long time its up to you, but remember you will have to make a habit of it until it becomes a normal part of your life. At first maybe set an alarm plan out some time what works best for you and just open yourself to God. Pray for humility, peace, for him to fill you with his love, to use you as an example etc….I will go over topics like this in another post to come or when I make my first vlog this week :) <3 Till then Happy Sunday and Happy Praying <3

So you have accepted Christ as your Savior and you believe and trust in God....It's so exciting and new....however, you don't know what to do or how to strengthen your new found faith. I was there and I am still new to it but felt I ought to share and document tips and advice and tools on how to help get others started as I continue to better myself.
